What are your sex addiction battle lines in this journey toward transformation?
For decades, I headed a support group called Battle Lines and saw many men delivered from sex addiction/compulsivity. Battle Lines was established on this TRUTH: in the Bible, Luke 4:18 states, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”
Another translation states, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; he has anointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set oppressed people free.”
Note the words “to set oppressed people free” and “to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”
What Do Your Sex Addiction Battle Lines Look Like?
This does not mean that we won’t have temptations; we will continue until the day we die. Still, it does mean that God can set us free. We don’t have to remain in “recovery limbo,” as so many in the Christian community or Secular community in counseling claim we will be!
That is a lie! I know it, as I have seen the TRUTH visible over a long period with men from all walks of life. God and His power give us strength and a way forward.
However, it does not come easily. It requires work and perseverance. God desires for us to be overcomers!
The Holy Word Encourages and Guides Us Through Our Sex Addiction Battle Lines
God’s Word states in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Ephesians 6:11 states, “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
James 1:12 states, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
God’s Word states in John 14:18, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day, you will know that I am in my Father, me, and you in me.”
Please note that Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit and states, “I am in My Father.” “You are in Me.” “I in you.”
